Flagler County School Board Chair Christy Chong Announces Re-Election Bid for 2026

Flagler County, FL – January 3, 2026 – Christy Chong, current Chair of the Flagler County School Board, announces her candidacy for re-election in the 2026 election cycle.

For the past three years, Chong has championed conservative values, parental rights, and academic excellence in Flagler County schools. “It has been my honor to serve our community,” Chong said. “I am asking voters to re-elect me so we can continue building on our momentum and keep Flagler Schools the best choice for families.”

A board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (ANCC), Chong brings a frontline perspective to education policy. As a mother of children who have attended Flagler Schools for the past decade—and who look forward to seeing them graduate from the district—she remains deeply invested in local families and student success.

Under her leadership, the district has demonstrated strong fiscal responsibility, ending the 2024-2025 fiscal year with a general fund balance exceeding $11 million. Academic performance has also advanced: Many schools maintain A and B ratings, and Flagler Schools achieved notable gains in the 2024-2025 assessment results, including district-wide improvements in English Language Arts (+3%), math (+3%), and other key areas, with several schools posting double-digit point increases in school grades.

Chong has consistently advocated for policies that protect children and prioritize education over ideology. “Our students should be taught how to think, not what to think,” she emphasized. “I have worked to maintain neutral, focused learning environments that empower parents and support real academic growth.”

With steady progress across the district in recent years, Chong is committed to sustaining this trajectory. “Let’s keep moving Flagler Forward,” she said. “I look forward to serving our community for the next four years and ensuring every child receives an excellent, values-aligned education.”
